Mini Menus

If you've kept up on the latest marketing trends, it's likely that you know what mini menus are. They are simply small menus, about the size of a business card, that can provide the entire menu, directions to your restaurant and pictures of your food in a small package. However, many restaurant owners like the concept but aren't sure how to best use them. Following are a few options for distributing these unique marketing tools effectively.

The first place you'll want to consider displaying your mini menus is at the cash register of your restaurant. This allows your customers to conveniently see them on display. Most customers will be surprised when they see them and pick one up out of curiosity. Once they realize how handy they are, they'll be likely to slip one into their wallet or purse for future convenient use.

If your restaurant is the type of business where patrons pay their server directly, you can place mini menus with the check on every order. This will surely get your customer's attention – in fact studies have shown that they will be 9 times more likely to pick these menus up than they would be any other marketing tools, including traditional menus and even magnets. If your customer chooses not to take one, you'll be able to slip it into the next customer's check with no problem.

For restaurants who offer take out or deliver, putting mini menus into each take out bag is a great idea. Most restaurants offer a menu stapled to each bag, with limited success. Most customers will either throw it away or slip it into a drawer with dozens of other menus, to be easily forgotten. However the convenience and small size of these types of menus makes them much more likely to be stored somewhere where your customers will immediately think of them when they think of ordering food.

Another good option is to partner with other local businesses. For example, perhaps a local motel or tourist shop will display your mini menus for you. They are more likely to display and hand out these types of menus than traditional menus for two main reasons. One, their customers are likely to get a kick out of their small and convenient size. Second, they won't take up nearly as much space in their motel or store that a regularly sized menu would, which makes them much more convenient.

As you can see, you'll have quite a few options for distributing your mini menus. If you take your customer's money at a desk or counter, that's likely a good spot to have these menus displayed. If you take their money at their table, just slip it in with their bill. Carry out and delivery bags can each have a menu put in them. You can also get together with local businesses who can display and hand out your menus to further increase your exposure. No matter how you go about it, these menus can increase your business.
